NYSPRA honors Career & Tech course catalog, video, student info materials

The Capital Region Career & Technical School has been honored by the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) with an Award of Excellence for its 2006-07 Where Are You Going? Course Guide, an Award of Excellence for its package of coordinated student and school informational materials, and an Award of Honor for its school video following a statewide competition. The awards will be formally presented to Career & Tech by NYSPRA
at an October 27 ceremony in Manhattan during the annual convention of the New York State School Boards Association.

The entries were submitted by Monique Jacobs, APR, communications coordinator for the Capital Region Career & Technical School. Jacobs produced the "Where Are You Going?" Course Guide and printed informational materials in conjunction with communications coordinator Judy Cox and graphic designer Margaret Murphy; she produced the school Web site (also part of the informational package) with Web design coordinator Kenneth Petersen and graphic designer Margaret Murphy, and produced the video in conjunction with videographer/editor Dieter Funiciello and communications coordinator Judy Cox.

According to NYSPRA, "Of approximately 500 entries in a closely drawn judging by communications professionals and other National School PR Association chapters around the country, one-third of the entries received awards. You may be proud that your work has been so honored by your peers."

The Where Are You Going? Course Guide is a catalog of program offerings produced annually for students, parents, guidance counselors and other school staff, and the community. The coordinated package of school informational materials included the Course Guide, course-specific brochures, Web site (www.bocescareertech.org), pocket folder and videotape, which provides an overview of the school and reflections by successful alumni.
